Loop<\/a>, proclaiming them the best \u00a0in the compendium, as is his right. And TLRC can see his point of view. TLRC, however, maintains his own counsel, and a personal favorite is this <a href=\"http:\/\/connect.garmin.com\/activity\/479572253\" target=\"_blank\">Klickitat Mtn. Road Loop<\/a>. Real roadies beware: there is gravel here, maybe a total of six or seven miles overall. Rd. climbs away out of the Lobster Cr. drainage. Rd.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>and, after some pleasant miles along this major road, the turn onto Thomson Cr., where this bucolic aspect<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1987\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/theloggingroadcyclist.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/DSCN0746.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1987\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1987\" title=\"DSCN0746\" src=\"https:\/\/theloggingroadcyclist.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/DSCN0746-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/theloggingroadcyclist.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/DSCN0746-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/theloggingroadcyclist.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/DSCN0746-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/theloggingroadcyclist.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/DSCN0746-400x300.jpg 400w, https:\/\/theloggingroadcyclist.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/DSCN0746.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-1987\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Looking up Thompson Cr.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>belies the constant wariness maintained by its denizens, doubtless concerned about hordes of KLCC listeners descending with health insurance policies that must be bought, or else:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/theloggingroadcyclist.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/DSCN0748.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-1988\" title=\"DSCN0748\" src=\"https:\/\/theloggingroadcyclist.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/DSCN0748-212x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"212\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/theloggingroadcyclist.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/DSCN0748-212x300.jpg 212w, https:\/\/theloggingroadcyclist.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/DSCN0748-725x1024.jpg 725w, https:\/\/theloggingroadcyclist.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/DSCN0748.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 212px) 100vw, 212px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Getting &#8220;out of range&#8221;, the biggest climb up to the flank of Saddle Mtn (with gravel on the initial climb up Thompson Cr.) leads to Rd. 58, &#8220;The Backbone of the Siuslaw&#8221;, along which one rolls through a few miles of rock, back to pavement and the final descent back to Five Rivers and six miles of fast pavement to the end.<\/p>\n<p>This is 65 miles of pretty much nowheresville, so be prepared to take care of yourself. Bring lots of food, water, tools, and tire stuff, because there sure isn&#8217;t any out there. It&#8217;s easy to start daydreaming along, given the lack of cars. Remember, the few drivers feel that way too, and you may (as TLRC has done) come around a corner and find yourself face to face with a driver just as \u00a0surprised as you. Or a bear, or mama big cat for that matter.
